Contrary to what the name may imply, the famous Spanish Steps were actually built by the French. Regardless, visitors to Rome have been delighted by them for many year. Some feel they are “just stairs” from the Piazza di Spagna to the Villa Medici, but as any experienced traveller knows, often-times it’s not so much about the destination but about how you actually get there that truly matters.

The Spanish Steps or as they are otherwise known, the Scalinata di Spagna, are 137 steps that were built between 1723 and 1725. They can be found near a outdoor plaza that is triangular in shape called the Piazza di Spagna which itself is one of the most popular tourist sites in Rome.

For the unrivaled honeymoon experience, finding a hotel with a dedicated honeymoon suite is a wonderful choice. After all, since you spent so much time and effort on planning that perfect wedding and memorable reception, it is only right that you also want your honeymoon to be memorable and as close to perfect as possible. To this end many an upscale hotel will offer newlyweds the option of renting the honeymoon suite.

In times past it was the heart shaped tub or the bed with the supposedly risqu? red satin sheets that would cause a stir of whispers for those who were planning on renting it, but since then many hotels have upgraded and their honeymoon suites are no longer as dramatically tacky as that. Sure, you will still find the occasional heart shaped Jacuzzi, but by and large the extras you will find in the honeymoon suite are a bigger bed, an extra sitting room that is divided off from the bedroom, and a bathtub that is big enough for two people.

There is a very unique part of Roman history that you will want to visit between Palatine Hill and Capitoline Hill near Rome. The Forum Romanum or the Roman Forum, may be one of the most ambitious archaeological projects of all time. By way of background, long before the first century AD, this area known as the Roman Forum was the premier political and cultural hot bed for the Roman Empire.

The Roman Forum was under construction for literally hundreds of years but by the seventh century BC, it was already an important center of culture for the Empire. By the beginning of the first millennium, the Roman Forum began to take on its final form under the guidance of Octavian, the son of Julius Caesar.

A Slice of Bruges – Museums

by Thomas Burtonelli

If you are planning to skip across the pond to Europe, you mustn’t miss the small town of Bruges, Belgium. While most people head to Belgium in search of fries and waffles, Bruges has a lot more to offer than standard fare. This town is all about museums of every shape and kind.

Every city, even a drab one, has an immediate obvious theme. Bruges screams history in the form of museums. Frankly, they are plentiful. The city is quaint enough to be worth visiting anyway with an old historic town and canals, but history buffs will really love it.

Love museums? A small sampling of the best in Bruges includes the Groeninge, Memling, Archeological, Gruuthuse and Folklore Museums as well as the Renaissance Hall. There are many more niche oriented museums as well. You just have to walk five feet to find new ones.

Tourism is often viewed as one of the more volatile industries as it can be affected in so many different ways yet we all risk our hard earned each year when we book that trip. Some people either don’t think of getting travel insurance or they just don’t want to whilst others may think they are in perfect health plus physically active so what could go wrong and if something does, they will deal with it then.

Many hundreds of things can stop you from going on your vacation or interrupt it and whilst insurance money is not the answer to everything, it does help if you are away from your home in a foreign country and for less than ten percent of the total cost, can you afford not too? An illness, accident or other unforeseen circumstance can force a traveler to cancel or interrupt their plans and that instance they face two major losses: nonrefundable deposits and medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Weather and Clothing;

* It is probably best to travel to China during autumn season, which spans from September to early November. The temperature during this time is a comfortable range of 50-72F with few chances of rain.

* There are so called “four furnaces” of China — These are Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanchang and Tianjing. One should refrain from traveling to these places during the summer.

* You have to make sure that you bring with you clothing appropriate for China’s four seasons: Spring from March to May, Summer from June to August, Autumn from September to November, and Winter from January to February.

* A raincoat is very essential during the summer which is a rainy season in China. Umbrellas are usually very defenseless against the strong winds.

* Chinese are conservative people so try not to wear revealing clothing.

We all look forward to our annual vacations and considering you pay for it all in advance; the average tourist puts themselves at risk from all manner of problems that could befall the vacation before and during it. Even now, many tourists do not believe that the cost of travel insurance is worth it and put everything at risk by traveling without it.

If you think about all the possible things that can happen to either stop you from traveling or from having a pleasant vacation, the small financial outlay, usually less than ten percent of the vacation cost, it is well worth it to have some peace of mind. You could fall ill just before you are due to travel, or someone in your family but this could just as easily happen when you are on vacation, but whatever the situation you will be out of pocket.
