There is so much more to do in the Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna area that a few days is just not enough! Because after you’ve done the majority of the adventure activities, a place that you can’t miss is the Cano Negro National Wildlife Refuge.
After you’ve done the majority of the adventure activities, a place not to be missed is the Cano Negro National Wildlife Refuge. From December to February you can see hundreds of migratory birds who stop here to feed. They take a stopover in this area in search of lagoons where they can eat the plants and the small fish.
Sunset Tours, Desafio and Canoa Aventura tour operators offer an amazing tour by boat in this region. Which ever you choose book your tickets early. Also stay in a hotel with a centric location this will make it easier for the tour operator to pick you up.

OK, so you’re in Costa Rica. Now what? Well, I’m sure you’ve got your tours, transportation and hotels all figured out, which is great! However before you get back let me tell you about some things you gotta do before going home!
1. Canopy Tours – Fly through the sky! This activity is truly unique in Costa Rica. Very few countries in the world can offer forest canopy viewing like this place.
2. Volcanoes – After living here for almost six years and I have to say that seeing an active volcano or even a dormant one is still an incredible wonder to me. Costa Rica has 112 and you gotta check at least one out!

Did you know that Costa Rica is the home to over 110 volcanoes? Luckily there are only five active actually. Can you imagine if they all erupted simultaneously, what would happen? What’s super fun about them is that you can go close enough to see a live lava show.
POAS VOLCANO
Poas Volcano is undoubtedly the most popular volcano in San Jose. Basically it is because it’s only a 45 minute drive from there. Poas Volcano has tree craters.
The main crater is the active one. You can walk right up to the tip of the crater and look in and of course, it is simply amazing! When you look inside, with an amazed eye you can see a bubbling lava lake.
Note: The best time to visit it is in the morning because as the day rolls, the clouds come up and you barely can see your hand.

You have many choices at your disposal when you are planning to visit the Tropical North Queensland region, in Australia. Although the first instinct, for many individuals, is to make all your travel plans on the internet, this is not necessarily the best path to choose. What many do not realize is, that, booking your reservations with a travel agent can help save money on their arrangements.
One way that they can really help you get the best deal is on airfare to Australia . While other aspects of travel to this region are very affordable it is the airfare that will cost you. And with all different airlines charging for bags and such differently it may be hard to figure out which airline is truly offering you the best deal. A travel agent will know and understand which airfare is more reasonably priced and will usually work hard to get you an affordable flight.

An African safari in Costa Rica might sound impossible but let me tell you it is possible. You will find it just a few miles outside of Liberia, on the way to all of the hottest beach destinations of the Guancaste province.
Before I started my great adventure of riding through the “Plains of Africa” my family and I went feeding the ostriches, camels and a deer. You can have the inside view of these animals about how hungry they are, if you can escape a bite from them. This happens super rarely.
Since it’s impossible to quench these animals, the tour will take you inside the plains and up close to zebras and gazelles only. It’s the closest you’ll ever get to these animals so make sure to take a ton of pictures, I know I did. I even got the grand opportunity to see a mama zebra nursing her baby.

Traveling to Central America is the same as traveling to any other part of the world, but as we all know, there are some things that we all have to keep in mind to make the trip as enjoyable as possible.

I was traveling along Costa Rica with my family and we decided to visit the Tortuguero Village. After a yummy breakfast and quick dip in the pool in Mawamba Lodge we took a short boat trip. We had to walk through the dirt paths that were through the village since there were no cars. Luckily enough, these paths were actually the center of our fun.
The attractions around the village were the cute little restaurants, the colorful central parks located on the river and a small path cutting to the village, 200 meters, to the other side – the beach where we enjoyed fresh coconut with rum delight!
When we were coming back, we had the opportunity to have a peaceful stroll and see the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC) which is the turtle education and research center of that area. This was possible because one of the many benefits of Mawamba is that it is only 15 minutes by foot along the sandy shore from the actual village.

Lanquin National Park was one of the first protected areas declared in Guatemala. Lanquin caves is also a sacred site used by the many of the Mayas from all over Guatemala, who believe the cave is the “heart of heaven”, and that in the depths of the cave “the secret of centuries is hidden”. It is located 1 km away from the town of Lanquin, off the highway that runs between Lanquin and Coban. It is an enormous and beautiful complex with limestone formations of extraordinary beauty.
One of the cave formations is a sharp pointed rock altar, where modern Mayan people carry out ceremonies and rituals the same way their ancestors used to do. There is also the Bridge of the Fallen King. The name stems from when King Leopold of Belgium came to Guatemala and visited the caves in 1958. When he crossed the wooden bridge, it broke and the King fell.

About 20 kilometers inland from Bruce Highway is Tamborine Mountain. The route takes you through beautiful farming and gourmet food areas. You will then begin to climb up the steep mountain where you will discover heritage towns and National Parks.
From Oxenford, the Tamborine-Oxenford road drives past Thomas Estate Wines, a winery with a small museum and restaurant, not to mention its fabulous wines. A bit further up on this road is the Nut Shed which is a working Macadamia Farm that sells a huge range of Macadamia and other nut based products.
After an extremely steep climb you will arrive at the Mount Tamborine area. this area sits on a 600 metre high plateau on the northern spur of McPherson Range. Here you can see Queenslands first National Park, Witches Falls (1908), although only a small amount of the original forest remains and is broken into nine small parks.

I having a small kid means I’m always looking for new stimulating adventures for him because every kid needs it. Or at least that is what I think. I have discovered some great places because of that but I would never have realized what a gem I was sitting on if I hadn’t gotten married to an academic. This has also helped me to get creative with places that sometimes you don’t think of as potential travel destinations. These amazing places I’m talking about are:
UNIVERSITIES
It is known as for the bright and also for not-so bright minds! That if you are in one of the towns that have universities, they are definitely worth checking out because:
It’s a great way to see local students attend school and basically you get to see how their lives are. This means learning more about local culture.
