Are Tower Booms the Ultimate Solution for Your Boat?

When towers were introduced in 1996, Correct Craft probably had no idea how they would change the future of the sport forever. By adding the tower structure to the deck of the boat, the rope angle changed dramatically as it pointed upward to seven feet from three feet. Water skiers, wakeboarders, kneeboarders, ski skiers, and barefooters all were quick to realize the dramatic improvement in performances as well as the reduction in impact injuries that resulted from the physics of being pulled in a more upward fashion.

By getting the rope out of the way, the back of the boat transformed into a party place while the skier enjoys the newer lighter feeling of skiing up high. Make sure you keep your passengers entertained by adding speakers, lights, and board racks that organize and customize your boat. Collapsing the tower is usually as easy as pulling a couple of pins if you need it in the down position for traveling under over head objects or trailering your boat.

One of the obvious advantages of the tower is taking advantage of the all new tower boom which can put the entire boom on the tower and out of the boat. The ski pylon or gunnel were the only available attachment points for a boom before the tower. Having the option of either using the ski pylon or tower allows you to choose what will work best for your boat. If you are interested in the latest technology, you will choose the latter.

The benefits of having a tower boom, I will list here;

1. it keeps the boom out of the boat thus freeing up space inside the boat

2. folding up the tower boom to get it out of your way is easy

3. two extension arms expand and contract to allow you to put the boom exactly where you want it

4. it definitely looks cool

5. it puts the skier in a very safe position near the driver and has all the great benefits of dramatically speeding up the learning of any water sport

6. skiers will improve dramatically with the confidence of having you right next to them to talk them through the process of learning

I recommend finding a supplier who will stick his neck out and guarantee that their tower boom will fit your tower. There are tower booms for every tower so make sure you get someone who is experienced in getting you the correct one. If you do not get this type of service, find someone else.

If you know your tower tubings out diameter, then that is all you need to get the right tower boom. If you are not sure of how to get this measurement, then you will need to know your tower manufacturer and year it was built.

Setting up the tower boom for the first time takes about an hour. You will need to mount the boom clamp on the rear leg of the tower as low as possible. In addition, there are two tower boom clamps that are mounted in a triangulated fashion to add an incredible amount of stability to the boom that is unparalleled in other types of booms.

Once your clamps are all mounted, you will put the boom together to get an idea of how long your extension arms must be. After you attach your first extension arm, you can adjust either of them to put the boom in the desired position. Once you like the location of the boom while it is together, you can adjust the two cables to where there is no slack.

Your tower boom will definitely be one of the most used pieces of equipment on your boat and it is designed to last forever. It is a big bonus having your ride rigged with the coolest equipment available that also helps you ski or teach like a pro.
