The fascinating and mysterious beauty of the Skeleton Coast is every adventurers dream. This desolate coastline is alive with stories of shipwrecks, heroic rescues as well as tragic ends. If the untouched beaches and dunes could tell us stories, we would be spell-bound. Access to this section of coastline has previously been cut off. Now, however, several tours a year are permitted to pass through and travel the quiet beaches and the massive sand dunes stretching for what seems like forever and explore the emerald green river gorges. Join an adventure from Swakopmund up to where the Kunene River empties itself into the ocean. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to share in the intrigue and natural history of this coastline.

For those of us who are at heart the adventurous spirits, the explorers, the admirers of nature’s wonders, for those of us who are photographers, even amateurs this kind of trip is just for you. You are supplied with a kitlist and a list of items that will be provided for you. Items like cutlery and crockery, bedding, drinking water and snacks are for your list and a guide, two hearty meals a day and various other necessities are organized for you. With a planned route to follow discovering various landscapes and terrains along the way, both man and vehicle will be tested. This includes crossing a section of the Namib Desert, vast grasslands, undulating sand dunes and river crossings, all areas teeming with amazing wildlife.

Each day of the expedition is new and exciting with different aspects to explore. Starting at Swakopmund the convoy would head out about 500km to Rocky Point. Each vehicle is equipped with a radio and communication between drivers is possible the whole way. The guide keeps to the planned route as closely as possible, with only changes like incoming tides, bad weather or driver and vehicle limitations forcing deviations in plans. Refueling is an important part of the plans and various stops along the way are made for this end. Petrol vehicles need to allow for 250ltrs of fuel for this section of the route and Diesel vehicles require 220ltrs.

The next section to tackle is when the formal road ends and the convoy takes to the beach at Move Bay. Traveling north of the Bay, the first night is spent setting up camp on the beach. The next day is an interesting one as the vehicles remain on the sand and travel right next to the sea for 150km passed Hoarusib River mouth. Historical stops are made for one to explore the wreck of the Ventura Bomber that was involved in the rescue of the stranded passengers of the fated Dunedin Star. And then on to the second nights stop over at Angra Fria where camp is set up on the beach once again or in the blackened lava hills, weather dependant.

The journey along this coastline which appears so inhospitable is special from so many angles. Experiencing part of history as you investigate the wreck of the ship the Dunedin Star, to driving over vast salt pans and then onto wetlands teeming with over 70 species of water birds is overwhelming. Very few people get to experience nature in this way. In some areas of the journey one is forbidden to swim because of the presence of the Nile crocodile and others where you are not allowed to walk about camp after dark due to the elephants within the camp area. The 4×4 vehicles recommended for this endurance trip are not the average aspirated Diesels or any other underpowered vehicle. There are sections in this journey which can only be passed with specialized off-road vehicles.

Hearty breakfasts are a great start to the day and are provided by the tour operators. Much time is allowed for stopping at magnificent view sites along the way and swimming in spectacularly clear rock pools. After traveling along the Kunene River for two days, the drive heads down the Hartman Valley. The driving is challenging and slow moving and the wildlife in this part of the trip can be enjoyed to the fullest. Through the Marble Quarry and on towards the Hoarusib River lushly vegetated with Mopani trees and Makalani palm trees, this part of the trip is called the Elephant day. The last stretch of the route takes the adventurers to Sesfontein/Palmwag where everyone is then off to continue their adventures to a number of other exciting sites within Namibia. With an adventure in store never to forget, make sure you get in on this limited offer to places few people have ever stepped.

Mexico: Adventure Vacations at its Best http://www.travel-reviews.org/mexico-adventure-vacations-at-its-best/ http://www.travel-reviews.org/mexico-adventure-vacations-at-its-best/#comments Tue, 31 Jan 2012 15:08:13 +0000 Linda Patterson http://www.travel-reviews.org/mexico-adventure-vacations-at-its-best/ Fun and Excitement for Kids and Adults

Few of us get as many vacations as we deserve, and even the ones we get aren’t nearly as long as they ought to be! For that reason, it’s imperative that when you get the chance to get away for a week or two with your loved ones, you make the most out of your vacation time and make it memorable, enjoyable, and most of all, relaxing. Fortunately, for many living in the western hemisphere, there is a vacation destination to beat the band practically next door. Mexico offers a nearly inexhaustible list of attractions, adventures, and sights for all ages – and you can see and do them all while experiencing luxury that won’t break your bank account.

The list of amenities and opportunities available on a Mexican vacation is nearly limitless. From desert vistas to lush jungles, ancient ruins to five-star resorts, you’ll be able to experience whatever tickles your fancy, under the umbrella of a warm and comfortable tropical climate. Your kids will marvel at the amazing historical sights of towering ancient pyramids, and you and your special someone will take delight in being pampered at some of the world’s preeminent luxury resorts. The most pressing problem you’ll face will be how to choose from all your options, and fit in everything you want to accomplish in the short time you have available.

Innumerable Sights, Amazing Environments

From endless dune-swept deserts to beautiful beaches, lush jungles to snow-tipped mountains, Mexico has nearly every environment desirable within its borders, and all will be accessible to you. Boasting one of the largest metropolitan areas on the planet and some of the smallest, quaintest towns with architecture from a simpler, bygone era, there are so many places to choose from whatever your vacation desires may be. San Miguel Allende, Morelia, Guadalajara…the list is nearly inexhaustible, and that’s just taking into account cities that still function in the present era! Don’t forget about the numerous ancient Maya and Aztec cities like Tenochtitlan and Tikal, which are must-see destinations for anyone with a history bent, or curiosity about the origins of human civilization.

If it’s beaches and tropical coastline you want, look no further than Baja California. White sand, calm, crystal-clear water, and secluded bays make this one of the world’s most incredible seashore destinations. From the striking sea cliffs to the scintillating cuisine and local culture, you’ll have to work hard not just spending the whole vacation lying on a beach in pampered luxury :as if that were a bad thing!

The Fabulous Riviera Maya

Of course, Mexico’s not all big cities and ancient history. The Riviera Maya, located on some of planet earth’s most beautiful real estate, has all the five-star resorts and luxury living you could possibly wish for. Watersports, snorkeling, games, adventure trekking, sunbathing – you can do it all here, in style and luxury that you may never have thought possible, let alone affordable. Every member of your family will come away feeling like a king or queen, prince or princess, with only one question on their minds: when do we get to come back?

A prime example of the amenities and luxury you’ll experience there is the Palace Resort, which offers various incentives in different seasons to make not stopping by there for at least a few days almost unthinkable. From golf vouchers to free car rentals to guided tours of ancient Maya cities, you’ll see, taste, and feel the best that Mexico has to offer, all while learning about the region’s amazing history by visiting archaeological treasures like Tulum, Coba, and Chichn Itz.

Mexico’s national airline, Aeromexico, will be your best bet to hop around the country during your stay, so that you can spend the most time relaxing and avoid long, tiring bus trips and long waits between destinations. Your transportation will be even further streamlined by the many promotions and limited-time offers available via their website; as they say, you’ll be enabled to “pay less and live longer” from the minute you set foot on the tarmac to the moment your passport is scanned on the way out. If there’s a vacation in your future, look no farther than Mexico for a journey that your whole family will enjoy thoroughly, remember fondly, and beg you to repeat next year!

Oriental Peace Symbolism http://www.travel-reviews.org/oriental-peace-symbolism/ http://www.travel-reviews.org/oriental-peace-symbolism/#comments Mon, 30 Jan 2012 13:00:20 +0000 Steve Chung http://www.travel-reviews.org/oriental-peace-symbolism/ The Chinese writing system makes use of characters known as Han characters. The total number of characters in the Kangxi dictionary is a staggering 47,035 although a large portion of them are no longer used. The important thing to understand is that the Chinese characters are actually symbols that represent whole ideas rather than words constructed from letters with phonetic values.

The idea of peace holds a very special place in the Chinese symbols. The peace as understood by Chinese character symbols is more of the feeling of contentment in the heart of the people rather than absence of war. They believe that this is what the human race is actually looking for.

The Chinese peace symbol is therefore representing one of the most precious things to man. Different people have different perceptions about the ways of acquiring peace. Some will go bungee jumping for it whereas others will turn to God in repentance. The Chinese however have their own concept and ways of acquiring peace.

The Chinese believe that the ancient symbols possess the quality of attracting positive things and they use them very often to get good fortune. Peace is something we all desire and the use of the peace symbol is very widespread throughout China.

So what is the Chinese concept behind the peace symbol? Well, according to them if you surround yourself with peace symbols you will finally attain peace within your self. At least this is how they have made use of the peace symbols throughout the history of the nation.

When you take a look at Chinese society you will find that the character of peace symbol is not the only one which is so popular to get good things in the lives of the people. There are other symbols, the character of which you will find in shops, cars, offices, homes like the characters of blessing symbols and symbols of good fortune.

Today the Chinese peace symbol is amongst the most popular characters used not only in China but also around the world. The west is particularly infatuated with Chinese symbols and peace being a universally appealing idea is right on top of the list.

As it is the concept of peace is considered to be cool in the eyes of the western youth. When the similar concept is represented in the form of a Chinese symbol that looks amazing because of the way it is composed the symbol gains even more credibility and appeal. Hence we find a wide range of fashion accessories and clothing gear featuring the Chinese peace symbol and selling like hot cakes in the western world.

Of course there is a big difference in the perception that the westerners have regarding the Chinese peace symbols and the perception that has been prevailing in China for centuries.

Chinese symbolic meanings are an integral part of Chinese culture. If you want to read more about Chinese name symbols click on the hyperlinks.

The Advantages of Buying Italian Property During The Recession http://www.travel-reviews.org/the-advantages-of-buying-italian-property-during-the-recession/ http://www.travel-reviews.org/the-advantages-of-buying-italian-property-during-the-recession/#comments Sun, 29 Jan 2012 09:50:31 +0000 Jan Taylor http://www.travel-reviews.org/the-advantages-of-buying-italian-property-during-the-recession/ As a place to live you could do a lot worse than live in Italy, it is a fantastic country. It has a great deal going for it, the people are warm and friendly, the food is great and so is the climate. There is lots to do and see in Italy. The architecture is breathtaking and there are some wonderful monuments and historic buildings to visit. The scenery is fantastic and very varied. Whether you want to live in the countryside or the city, you have plenty of choice. In Italy, you can live in the mountains, by the sea or on the plains.

Sadly, Italy has a few problems at the moment. Italy, along with many other countries across the world is in the middle of a recession. Unemployment is high, so if you have a young family and need to work to cover the bills moving to Italy, now, may not be right for you. If, on the other hand, you have already retired moving to Italy could be a good move, provided you have an adequate income.

Italy is such a beautiful country, which is why demand for property has been so high. However, due to the recession prices dropped a great deal in the past few years. At the moment, property prices are stable and it looks like they will stay that way. Now is a good time to buy if you are buying yourself somewhere to live permanently. If you want value for money, you cannot go wrong with Italian property. Per square meter, it is far cheaper than in many other parts of Europe, so you get more for your money.

Once you have found and bought your Italian property, getting it done up is a lot cheaper than it used to be. Because there is relatively little work around Italy’s tradesmen and women are charging far less than they used to.

The exchange rate is once again moving in favour of the pound meaning that in real terms you can buy more for less. This means that the cost of living is even lower than it once was and will probably continue to fall.

You can buy some fantastic property in Italy, if you are prepared to take your time and shop around. By far the best way to find your perfect Italian property is to start by choosing the area of Italy you want to live in. Once you know where you want to live, use one or two local property agents to help you to find your dream property.

What A Peru Travel Agent Offers http://www.travel-reviews.org/what-a-peru-travel-agent-offers/ http://www.travel-reviews.org/what-a-peru-travel-agent-offers/#comments Sat, 28 Jan 2012 14:19:11 +0000 Jeferson Tuyor http://www.travel-reviews.org/what-a-peru-travel-agent-offers/ A Peru travel agent will help the customer decide what travel plan is best for them and how to go about purchasing items such as airline and bus tickets, and setting up car rentals. These businesses are paid on the commission of companies that provide them with their various package deals for vacations and cruises. Certain airlines or bus lines may also have special deals for customers who decide to visit and procure vacation placement through a travel agency.

Certain companies have popular travel sites on the internet that make searching for vacation packages a snap. Most of these sites were once large national chains that were supplied by airliners and vacation companies abroad. Travel books are often found in their offices for those interested in visiting a particular locale.

Tours of the Amazon jungle in Peru are an enticing prospect for the traveler who desires a bit of adventure. The vast, lush jungle is home to a unique variety of wildlife that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Even in modern times the area is not majorly settled by man.

Outside of this country are the Galapagos islands, home to more species of creatures that exist nowhere else on earth. On its rocky shorelines, marine iguanas can be seen being misted by the waves. On the mainland, large, land dwelling tortoises slowly advance across the landscape. For those interested, sailboats can be rented and operated outside the shore in order to appreciate the coast of these islands, and admire the wildlife from afar.

In ancient times, the Inca natives were the ruling culture of the country. The ruins of ancient cities are nestled high into the mountains, often requiring a fair amount of hiking to get to them. This offers much adventure in the way of a discerning traveler who desires something new to explore.

Machu Picchu is a popular tourist site for those visiting the country, and its significance is not to be underestimated. Ancient Incan peoples revered and lived within its walls, located high in the mountains and further surrounded by a generous amount of ranges all around it. Sacred geometry is believed to explain its relatively bizarre location high in the mountains, as it was to be a sacred and secret place of worship.

Machu Picchu was discovered in 1911, so it is a relatively new site. Natives of the land were still apparently living in some of the structures there when it was discovered. During the Spanish conquest of the 1500s, this site remained untouched, even though it was not far from the capital of Cusco. As the years went by after its abandonment, the jungle grew heavily over it, making it even more inaccessible to researchers in the area.

Visiting Peru is a chance for the traveler to experience the most untouched parts of the world, unspoiled by man and as close as possible to how life was in ancient times. This is all done in relative comfort with the utmost security, especially if booked with a reputable vacation company. The majestic landscape and generously dispersed mountains make any adventure to the country worth the trip.

You will find a detailed list of must-see sights in Machu Picchu and a complete summary of important factors to consider before choosing a Peru travel agent at www.aracari.com/ now

Grand Canyon Activities: Airplane Tour Gives Bird’s Eye View http://www.travel-reviews.org/grand-canyon-activities-airplane-tour-gives-birds-eye-view/ http://www.travel-reviews.org/grand-canyon-activities-airplane-tour-gives-birds-eye-view/#comments Fri, 27 Jan 2012 14:39:34 +0000 Ione Mahler http://www.travel-reviews.org/grand-canyon-activities-airplane-tour-gives-birds-eye-view/ Taking a Grand Canyon airplane tour is one of the most memorable events in life. The carving out of the canyon took millions of years. There is a magnificent vista spread out below as you fly over the South Rim. Rock formations tell the geological history of this national treasure. The scope of this immense structure is more awe-inspiring than any man-made structure could hope to be.

Airplanes transport visitors from Las Vegas to the South Rim providing many memorable sights along the way. There is Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and the Arizona desert. There is no better angle to view all these monumental sights from. An aerial view is breathtaking.

A typical tourist will fly from Las Vegas to the South Rim. There are overnight accommodations inside the park. A view from another perspective is provided for those who drive along the South Rim. Bus tours most often include a guide to narrate what is seen along the road. This makes it easy for the visitors to focus on the scenery along the way.

It is 280 miles from Las Vegas to the South Rim of the canyon. You can travel by rental car in about five hours. You might consider a side trip on the famous Route 66 that is now so empty of traffic. The freeway system changed the historic route forever. A faster way to arrive is a flight from Las Vegas to the park entrance.

Mather Point is there at the entrance. You can see the amazing view of the canyon below that is shown in travel brochures and other literature. Angels Point is a notable landmark that is located at the widest and deepest spot along the canyon. The Colorado River lies a mile below. There are astonishing rock formations that tell an historical tale of the millions of years in which the canyon was formed.

Sightseeing on the South Rim includes Grand Canyon Village, Yavapai Point and Observation Station. Some man-made structure are fine examples of architecture built in the early 1900s. Two fine examples are Lookout Studio and the El Tovar Hotel. There is a developed path that takes visitors from one landmark after another. There is shuttle bus service in the busy season.

There are different climates at the different levels of the walls. The area as a whole is referred to as semi-arid desert. Along the Colorado River lie sand beaches. Higher up you will see various cacti and other shrubs growing. Above that are juniper and pinyon pine trees. A few thousand feet higher, ponderosa pine trees are abundant. Up one more level lies a spruce-fir forested area. There are numerous species of animals living at all levels.

Bounteous wildlife calls the park home. Most animals are timid and do not venture out while people are around. You may catch a glimpse of a Kaibab or Tasseled-eared squirrel. The latter has distinctive tufts of hair growing on the ears. Bighorn sheep climb rocks that look impossible to climb and night brings Mexican spotted owls out of hiding. Mountain lions roam parts of the area, hunting for small animals.

Wildlife is a cause of concern for some experts. They think the overabundance of visitors will damage the ecosystem in the park. The animals living in the park are protected by law and no visitors are allowed to feed them. Those who visit by taking a Grand Canyon airplane tour are possibly easing the effect of humans on the environment within the park.
