Vacationing in Hawaii with your family will give everyone memories which will last forever. There is so much to do there that you will never run out of things to do during your vacation. Hawaii has been referred to as “Paradise” so you may think you have traveled to a whole new land. In a way, you did as it’s culture is so different from what we experience at home. Your children will love the opportunity to experience it and the unique activities it has to offer.

Family Vacation in Hawaii: Adventures in the Tropical Water

Snorkeling is a great family aquatic adventure which is a fun and inexpensive activity. Join your kids in the shallow water to see colorful fish and other marine life that live in and around the coral reefs.

Don’t forget to bring some underwater cameras so your kids can get pictures of the wonderful things they will see. Also, bring along a waterproof fish ID card and play a game to see how many of the fish each kid can spot. The funnest thing of all is swimming with the dolphins up close and personal which you can do at Oahus Sea Life Park. There is also a seal waiting to shake your hand.

Love tropical fish, but uncomfortable with the water?

You can pay a visit to the Maui Ocean Center, where you’ll be able to walk through an acrylic tunnel in the largest tropical reef aquarium in the country! Here you’ll see tiger sharks and Hawaii’s largest predators swimming all around you!

Hawaii Family Adventures: Visit the Volcanos

If you’ve always wanted to see a volcano for yourself, this is the time to do it. Many people find this to be the high point of their vacation! You can visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island and see how 7,000 years of volcanic activity has transformed the island.

The Big Island has terrain ranging from snow-capped mountains to tropical beaches and lush rain forests. Even though you are in Hawaii, a coat may be necessary as the temperature can get down to 30 degrees on the mountain top.

Book a Volcano Sightseeing Tour online and a local guide will take you to the volcanoes’ edge. You will see Kilauea, the most active of all the volcanoes on the planet, which you visit on foot while enjoying spectacular views of terrain along the way. Marvel at the flow of lava at 2,000 degrees with your own eyes.

Hawaii Family Vacation: Stars & Sky Adventures

Another fabulous thing to experience on the Big Island is star gazing with the most powerful telescope to be found anywhere. Go to Mauna Kea, which is the tallest mountain on the planet including it’s underwater depth. Older kids will particularly be fascinated by this, but this is another really memorable event for the whole family.

You can follow this adventure up with a visit to the Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii, located in Hilo. This 52 foot full dome planetarium offers stunning multimedia shows which will delight your children even as it educates them.

You’ll see the worlds first Sky Scan 3D imaging system, which projects breathtaking 3D images from the Mauna Kea telescopes! While never leaving Hawaii, you can take a trip through the entire galaxy and more at Imiloas 4D2U theater.

The volcanoes, the tropical waters , and the stars provide endless opportunities for endless adventures which is only a part of what Hawaii has to offer. There are so many great things to do on your Hawaii family vacation that you will want to come back again and again.
