Thinking about adding some excitement and adventure into your travels. How about pampering yourself in the luxury of a hotel that also has a casino in it. Each and every one of us has had that long time dream to have a really grand getaway to a foreign destination. We want to travel the world and see different attractions, experience new types of culture, taste new foods, and meet new people. But before you grab that luggage of yours, sit back and relax. Take a few minutes to read this.

Preparing well before going on an international vacation is a smart thing to do. Spend the required time before hand to make sure your journey will be as problem free as possible. There are many worrisome things that can arise if you fail to organize yourself. Make yourself a checklist of all the items you should be taking.

The first thing a person must do is the research. Learn as much as you reasonably can about the place that you are going to. Find out things like weather, the paperwork and documents needed to travel there, any diseases, the cost of common items, customs, festivals, holidays and crime rates. Make sure you find out about any weird laws that might be legal where you live now but against the law there. One law that is acceptable in one place maybe illegal to another place and in the end, instead of having a fun vacation you will see yourself paying for bail or being miserable in jail. Make sure that you know how to contact the police in case that you find yourself in a bad situation.

Try to learn some common phrases and wear clothes that the locals wear. It would be nice to learn a few every day use words plus just a few phrases to get you by. Dressing like the locals should help prevent you from being picked out really easily by any petty criminals. At the same time don’t carry a lot of money and valuables or wear a lot of jewelry.

Be aware of the electricity level that the country is using. For example in countries like the Philippines, the place is using 220 volts while in America they use 110 volt. Do this to make sure that you don’t have any trouble with your electronics. If you need to, make sure you purchase an adapter ahead of time for the voltage adjustment. You also need to know if they use a 50hz or 60hz electric cycle.

Traveling with group tours is okay for the safety in numbers. Also, you don’t have to worry about getting around. But there are also downfalls of traveling in a cluster. Tour groups are bussed to various locations on a strict itinerary meaning less sightseeing and possibly less personal enjoyment. If you want to know the history of place that you will be going then hire a personal tour guide. A personal or private tour guide will give you more flexibility according to your schedule so you can spend more time where you want to.

Your final preparation list should include a passport, tickets, credit cards and prescriptions or medications. Try not to forget about anything that could cause you major delays at a customs checkpoint. Don’t forget to bring something to occupy your time if you are to be taking a long plane flight.
