« Corporate Boat Cruises Are Gaining Steam A Biltmore Getaway for Those Who Aren’t Vanderbilts »
Isn’t it great when you go on a vacation to somewhere you have never visited before? Do you find yourself getting excited thinking about arriving in a new place to enjoy some free time? Did you know that pets too can enjoy (and benefit from) a break away from home? Increasing numbers of folk are choosing to take their pet with them on vacation and if you visit a place such as the city of Ayr in Scotland you begin to appreciate the many advantages (for you an your pet) such a place has over other cities in the UK. Unfortunately it isn’t very easy finding pet friendly accommodation so I have listed a few Ayr hotels, that allow pets, below.
Ayr is a wonderful town on the south west coast of Scotland which is extremely popular with tourists for a variety of reasons. Most commonly people visit the area to explore the many connections with the famous poet Robert Burns. Burns is known the world over for both his amazing use of the Scots language, his most amazing poetry but also for the way he led his life. You do not have to travel far in this part of the country to find either a building associated with the bard or a monument or statue dedicated to him. Ayr itself has a multitude of important building relating to the national poet but it is in the outlying districts that you will find the man’s heart.
Ayr is the county town of the area known as Ayshire, an area well known for having lush green, fresh and clean, countryside as well as clean and clear waters, the perfect combination of elements for a pet to explore. Beautiful areas of woodland and seaside abound and your pet will love virtually everywhere you go here. There are lots of unusual little towns, villages and hamlets to explore and those with a keen eye may recognize some of the places as they have appeared in several movies including the classic British movie “The Wicker Man”. This strange cult movie is also celebrated at one of the UK’s finest annual music festivals, the family friendly Wickerman Festival held not too far from Ayr towards the end of July.
The Wickerman Festival is held in the neighboring county of Dumfries and Galloway but for this article I am concentrating on Ayr and Ayrshire however, before I list the pet friendly accommodation I would like to request that you really take care to ensure that your chosen hotel or guest house does not regret allowing pets in their rooms. Some places make a charge for pets while other may only charge if there is damage or the room requires extra cleaning but if everyone’s pet behaves pet lovers will keep their excellent reputation.
3 Pet Friendly Hotels
Swallow Station Hotel
With seventy three rooms this is a large pet friendly hotel located in the very center of Ayr. Next to the train station the 3 star accommodation has it’s own bar and restaurant and is overlooking Burns Statue Square, about ten minutes from the airport. No extra charges for pets.
The Horizon Hotel
With superb views over the Clyde to Arran this central hotel gives three star pet friendly accommodation without charging extra for allowing your pet in your room. This establishment is smaller than the previous with only twenty five rooms.
The Savoy Park Hotel
Another 3 star pet friendly hotel is the Savoy Park, minutes from the town center. A small (fifteen rooms) family run establishment which does not charge extra for pets and offers free broadband internet in every room.
Guest Houses In Ayr Which Allow Pets
Canter Holm
Canter Holm has six 3 star pet friendly rooms within minutes from the town center. Unfortunately this is the only accommodation in Ayr which states that there may be extra charges for pets.
Grange View Guest House
The 3 star, 3 roomed, Grange View gives extremely friendly (the owners will make golf bookings etc. for you), pet friendly, accommodation which is just a couple of minutes from the very center of Ayr. No extra charges for pets.
Far, far too few guest houses and hotels in Ayr allow pets. This is such a great shame as fewer places rival the town as a suitable destination for a vacation with a pet. Obviously with so few pet friendly places it is important to make your booking at the first opportunity and, if you manage to book a room, please have a thoroughly enjoyable vacation.
