There is no shame in admitting then when on holiday, you like to indulge in a day of shopping. Cyprus has a fantastic heritage so as well as being able to shop in high-street and chain stores where many bargains can be picked up, there are also many markets and independent shops where you can pick up something locally handmade or even an antique.
Shops in Cyprus are generally open between 9am and 8:30pm, although of course these times may vary. Shops close slightly later on a Wednesday because they do not tend to open in the afternoon, and shops are not open at all on a Sunday. Don’t worry though; although these hours may be slightly different to the UK, you’ll get used to them in no time!

Despite other Mediterranean countries being affected by the world’s financial problems, Cyprus has remained comparatively economically stable. In fact, their economy has grown steadily over the last few years. The majority of Cyprus, 70% in fact, is employed in the service sector, with the remaining working in the tourism, agricultural and industry sectors. So if you are planning on doing business in Cyprus, here are a few key things you need to know.
Of course, first and foremost, you need to make sure you have completed all the correct legal requirements and administrative procedures that are required by EU and Cypriot law. But even after these, there are various examples of business etiquette and working practices that you must remember when working and trading in Cyprus.

Cyprus is the third largest island located in the Mediterranean Sea, beaten only by Sicily and Sardinia. Therefore, if you are planning on exploring the island and life outside your resort, you may want more than you legs or a bike to get around. Stretching 149 miles at its longest, many islanders rely on cars and public transport to get around, so here’s the low down for when you visit the island of Cyprus.
The first thing to remember is that there are no trains on the island, and haven’t been for over 50 years. Therefore, most locals and tourists rely on buses as the form of public transport. There are many different types of buses connecting the island, from inter-city to village to village services.

Cyprus has had a difficult past with on-going conflict between Turkey and Greece over who would control the island. The island has been made up of both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots for an extremely long time and with this split populations has also come a split in the religion of people on the island. Northern Cyprus is now known as Turkish Cyprus whereas the remainder is still Greek Cyprus and this has a large bearing on the religious divide.
Not everyone on the island of Cyprus is actually religious but quite a large percentage of people follow one faith or another. Because the population of Cyprus is made up of people from many different countries, there are also quite a large number of different religions. Predominantly the island is made up of Greek Orthodox and Muslims with 70 per cent and 20 per cent respectively but there is a further ten per cent made up of various other religions too.

The 1st time I saw Cyprus, I quickly slipped heavily crazy about the area. It is a summertime holiday plus the great weather packaged with the calm, inviting waters of the Mediterranean were quickly fascinating. There is a close link between Britain and the Greek area of Cyprus so it felt more like your own property when compared to other places in the Mediterranean.
We appeared at Larnaca which is relatively well connected with diverse United Kingdom airports]. Our waiting taxi took us east toward our accommodation at the widely recognized resort of Ayia Napa. It has a warranted name as an energetic destination, mainly across the high season but we would reserved a 5* hotel around 2km from the centre at Nissi Beach.

Cyprus is the third largest of the Mediterranean islands, and as well as offering gorgeous beaches and quaint towns, it is perhaps best known for its clubbing scene. Being located just off the southern coast of Turkey and to the east of Greece, it’s not surprising that average summer temperatures reach the mid-30s˚C, making Cyprus a perfect summer holiday destination.
One of the island’s and the world’s most famous clubbing resorts is of course Ayia Napa. Situated on the eastern side of the Cypriot coast, this resort has come a long way from its religious roots (Ayia Napa translated means ‘holy wooded valley’). Today the coastal resort offers holiday makers a range of touristy bars and nightclubs all of which are interestingly themed to stand out next to their competitors, the majority of which are located in the central square.

Cyprus has hot temperatures for nearly the whole of the year and is situated in between three separate continents. The island boasts beautiful beaches and clear sea and so it is no real surprise that it is so popular with people looking for a relaxing sun holiday. In addition the sun and the many beaches, Cyprus also has fantastic scenery with mountains and historic buildings. Cyprus has been in the media recently because of outbreaks of conflict due to uncertainty of its allegiance with either Greece or Turkey and this has made many think twice about a holiday there.
