« Becoming Ukraine Cruise Tours – Sail On A Resort Hotel To Great Land Adventures »
Learning to speak a second language is one of the most rewarding challenges that you can undertake. Learning the native tongue of the countries you travel adds wonders to an already thrilling experience.
You will find many courses to choose from if you are looking for a course that will teach you a foreign language. How do you know which courses excel at their job and which ones fail to make the grade? You certainly do not want to waste your money on an imperfect course! This site has been erected in order to share our experience with anyone who wants to learn how to speak French.
I have reviewed the program entitled Rocket French. This program have been developed by Rocket Language Ltd., and the coursework was written by Marie-Claire Rivire who is a native Frenchman. This company prides itself in its reputation in the production of high quality language learning courses which include Spanish, Italian, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and the American Sign Language.
The first module contains 31 audio tracks that will have you speaking some basic words after your first lesson. The course instructs conversational French which means you will be able to converse with native French speakers in your travels. You will feel comfortable speaking with the locals, asking for directions, ordering in restaurants etc.
Along with the audios, the actual transcripts are included which makes it very helpful when you follow along. Each audio is approximately twenty minutes long. Therefore, a full module will have about eleven hours of content. The methods that are used within this content will not only allow you to absorb French quickly but you will also be able to speak it just as fast. It may seem that eleven hours is a lot of time. However, when making use of the audio tracks, the time will go by effortlessly as well as quickly.
This program includes software which not only makes learning fun but easy as well. MegaVocab is the title of the first software application.
This is a vocabulary recognition tool. I found this very helpful in the beginning especially. You basically run through a series of words and you learn the words through repetition, and an association with a picture. It’s sort of like the flashcards you used to learn with when you were a kid.
The software has 1000 words and pictures built into it, but it also allows you to add more words and pictures of your choice as you advance with the language.
Once I began to learn the vocabulary, the next step was to go on to the MegaAudio software. I then began to feel self-confident with all I had learned.
The software provides exercises that test and improve your recognition of the spoken words. The system provides a score with each exercise so you always have a unit of measure for your progress.
I found this software to be a lot of fun to use. It is one thing to learn the vocabulary, but to understand it when spoken is another. In my opinion this is where other programs fall short, and where Rocket French excels.
Another very cool aspect of the Rocket French program was that it isn’t just an introductory course. The course is designed with the assumption that the student has no background in the language when starting. But it continues to an advanced level as well. I felt like this increased the value of the program because I wouldn’t have to go out and buy a more advanced course as I progressed.
Possibly the most impressive part of this course is the members only forum where you can ask questions and communicate with other students and the Rocket Language online instructors. To me, this forum made the cost of this course a real bargain. If you happen to get stuck on something, you find lots of help in the forum.
The closing comment I have regards the price of this course. As I wanted to get this course immediately, you can imagine my delight when I found that they offered a downloadable option meaning you do not have to wait to have CDs, printed material and software shipped out to you. A $200 discount is available if you choose this option. I was able to listen on my computer, load audio onto my ipod and even burn material to CDs. By making the purchase of the downloadable course, I was able to realize a savings of $200, so I was able to get the course for just under $100.
As if that was not good enough, Rocket offers the course with a 60 day money back guarantee with no questions asked. When everything else is considered – the quality of the material presented, the software, the guarantee, the forum participation and the bargain price, I give the Rocket French program the highest rating of 5 stars. If you desire to learn a second language, I think you will have a very hard time beating this program’s quality.
