See What It

Some holidays require that you leave the modern world behind and “rough it” for a week or two. If you’re into that kind of thing, enjoy it by all means. If you’re looking for something a bit more amenable you might want to try a cruise holiday. On a cruise ship you can have all the perks that come from the electronics store along with a shopping mall, satellite television, and a few fine restaurants on board.

Cruise deals on the modern ships are designed to be affordable for average working people and offer as much in the way of modern technology as the cruise lines can make available. Their own systems utilise the same technology that allows you to get internet or mobile phone access. Navigation systems and communications for the ship’s crew rely on GPS and sonar that you might take for granted in everyday life.

Another good reason to choose a cruise for your next holiday is the diversity of locations that you can go to on a cruise ship. The obvious choices for most are either the Caribbean or Mediterranean, but the colder regions of the world also offer some spectacular views and exotic ports-of-call where you can see and do things not available in the rest of the world. The Arctic and Antarctic are two such regions that come to mind.

Cruise holidays offer an opportunity to see regions of the world where ancient civilizations lived, worked, played, and strived for world dominance. You can visit the pyramids of Egypt on a Nile River cruise, the site of Mesopotamia by cruising the Tigris and Euphrates, or see the wonders of Rome while sailing the waters of Mare Nostrum, the Mediterranean Sea that was once controlled by them. You can see all of this and more from a cruise ship and still get time in on those tropical beaches.

If you’re looking for more tropical beaches try the Mexican or Mayan Riviera cruises that originate in North America. You can tour the Caribbean or the warm waters of the Pacific off Baja and see the cities where night life and holidaying takes priority over everything. You could also try a South American cruise, perhaps an Amazon River cruise if you want something a little different. The Western hemisphere offers all of the same attractions that the eastern hemisphere does, including hidden cities built by lost civilizations. You’ll want to visit one of those if you get a chance.
